Fairly traded and sustainable bouquet of Hyacinths from Flowerbud.com priced at $78 (overnight shipping included!)
So I was recently reading Elle Decor magazine the other day and came across a couple of recommendations for organically certified and fairly traded flowers that I absolutely had to share with you! I got so excited….I did some eco-research and here’s what I came up with.
Ok, so here’s the idea. Flowerbud.com and OrganicBouquet.com offer gorgeous, organically grown flowers certified by Veriflora, an independent organization that “guarantees flowers and potted plants have been produced in an environmentally and socially responsible manner and meet the highest standards for freshness and quality.”–taken from Veriflora’s purpose statement. I love it!

Sustainable crop production, resource conservation and energy efficiency, ecosystem protection and integrated waste management.

Organic roses from OrganicBouquet.com with 100% recycled gift box and liner!
One last thing before I let you go. You know you are totally eco-chic when you buy sustainable flowers with eco-friendly packaging.
Taken from OrganicBouquet.com, “Our bouquet packaging is made from recyclable and sustainable materials, speaking to your sense of care and commitment to the environment. Its industry-leading design sets a new standard by ensuring that your flowers remain well protected in transit while having a minimal impact on the Earth.” Yeah, baby!
Another interesting tidbit….”Of the 10 million stems bought everyday in the United States, nearly 80% are grown in Latin American countries where hot-botton topics like labor issues and pesticide use reveal the ugly side of beautiful business.”—Elle Magazine.
You know…after reading that, I will always look for the Veriflora label in all my flower purchases. I hope you do the same.
